EMDR

Francine Shapiro, the creator of EMDR would say, "EMDR therapy targets the unprocessed memories that contain negative emotions, sensations, and beliefs.  By activating the brain's information processing system…the old memories can then be 'digested.' Meaning what is useful is learned and what's useless is discarded, and the memory is now stored in a way that it is no longer damaging."

The researchers would say that EMDR facilitates the integration of the AIP (Adaptive Information Processing) system so that pathological memory networks can be reprocessed with Adaptive Information leading to improved functioning between the amygdala, hippocampus and neocortex.

What I have observed is that EMDR is a powerful technique for reprocessing experiences that have led to persistent maladaptive reactions including, but not limited, to anxiety, anger and freeze as well as limiting beliefs like I am not good enough, I am not safe, it is my fault or I will always be alone.  By activating the AIP (Adaptive Information Processing) system these limiting beliefs can be re-evaluated and a more adaptive physiological and cognitive approach can be adopted.  In other words I have seen people change beliefs about themselves and how the world works that have led them to be in harmony with themselves and manifest the life they desire.

EMDR Processing Video From The Lukin Center in NJ demonstrates how a distorted belief can be adopted.  These beliefs can be persistent and triggered throughout ones life if they are not accessed and reprocessed.
